Memories with grandparents(ジャーナリング中)

It's already May...
In just one month, it will be the anniversary of my beloved grandmother's death. Both of my parents were income earners, and I lived with my maternal grandparents during my childhood. My parents came to pick me up on the weekends, but I spent more time with my grandparents.
My grandfather was a sailor, but after coming ashore he worked at a paper mill and also grew fruit trees. He would often tell me stories of his hardships during the war. They also made bamboo dragonflies and water guns for me.
My grandmother was always busy with farming, and even when I was little I helped with the soil. I was taken to pick wild vegetables, bracken, and shibata mushrooms, and learned a lot about nature.
My grandparents have passed away now, but only good memories remain in my heart. These days I feel nothing but gratitude. I am who I am today thanks to the blessings of my grandparents. Even now, I'm sure he's still watching over me by my side.
